My Dad, John C. Mays, raced cars in the Sports Car Club of America, in H-Modified Class. The first photo is the very first car he raced, in 1951, in Vero Beach, Florida - a Crosley Super Sport. I was there for that first race and for many of the races over the years through 1958. My Father was an inventor, extremely bright and loved making things work. He had patents for his inventions that he wrote and drew himself, and said that every idea was there for anyone to find, it was just observation that allowed him to come to a new conclusion. Some answers to him mechanical problems came to him in dreams after nights of unrest. He was a master thinker of devil's advocate, and loved a challenge intellectually. He met with Fagan, invented a ram-induction manifold that put the Fibersport as Champion out of 39 Races - 36 Firsts, 5 Seconds, 1 Sixth, 1 DNF. Early races were in what others term "Flat Sided Body Fibersport", but our term was only Fibersport. Fiberglass body, Crosley Engine
